Handwriting digitisation
We create fonts based on handwriting. We develop fully functional OpenType fonts which can include customised features to enhance the authentic handwritten character – usually this involves randomised use of alternative letter shapes or ligatures of connected letters etc.
In many comic books, texts in balloons are written by the artists. In case of the Amulet book series, we collected typical examples of the artist’s handwriting
In the next step, we created two custom fonts imitating the artist’s handwriting. To avoid the unnecessary repetition of the same shapes, each character has two forms
To further enhance the handwritten feeling, we’ve added several special ligatures
